Description
A simple, crowd-pleasing 5-ingredient football dip perfect for game day gatherings and parties. Cheesy, creamy, and loaded with flavor, it’s the ultimate easy snack for football fans.
Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup salsa (mild or hot)
- 1 cup cooked ground beef or sausage
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions
Instructions
- Let the cream cheese soften at room temperature for easier spreading. Brown and crumble your ground beef or sausage in a skillet over medium heat (about 5-7 minutes), seasoning lightly with salt and pepper. Drain any excess fat.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread softened cream cheese in an even layer on the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish or 8×8-inch baking dish.
- Spoon salsa evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Sprinkle the cooked ground beef or sausage evenly over the salsa layer.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese, covering the entire surface.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and starting to brown at the edges.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with sliced green onions.
- Serve warm with tortilla chips, pita chips, or veggie sticks.
Notes
Let cream cheese soften for easier spreading. Drain excess liquid from salsa if it’s watery. Use freshly shredded cheese for best melting. Swap ground beef for sausage, turkey, or black beans for a vegetarian version. Can be assembled ahead and baked just before serving. Microwave option: heat assembled dip for 5-6 minutes, stirring halfway.
