Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- Powdered sugar for frosting
- Milk for frosting
- Optional: food coloring and sprinkles
Instructions
- Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add flour, baking powder, and salt, mixing until combined.
- Chill the dough in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll dough to ¼ inch thickness and cut into desired shapes.
- Bake for 9 minutes or until edges are barely golden.
- Let cookies cool on the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- For frosting, mix powdered sugar with a splash of milk and vanilla until thick but spreadable. Decorate as desired.
Notes
Chill your dough sufficiently for best results. Store cooled cookies in an airtight container to keep them soft.
