Description

A foolproof, quick, and fun sugar cookie icing recipe that dries smooth and shiny, perfect for decorating your favorite cookies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk (regular, oat, or almond)
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Mix the powdered sugar with milk in a bowl until combined.
  2. Add corn syrup and vanilla or almond extract, mixing until smooth.
  3. If the icing is too thick, add a drip of milk; if too runny, add more powdered sugar.
  4. Divide the icing into bowls and add food coloring if desired.
  5. Use a piping bag to outline and flood cookies with icing, letting them dry before stacking or decorating.

Notes

The icing takes about an hour to dry to the touch but is best left overnight before stacking. For best results, use gel food coloring.
